Diwali 2026 Date: Lakshmi Puja Muhurta & Festival Calendar

Diwali (Deepavali) is celebrated on the Amavasya (new moon) of Kartik month. Because the Hindu calendar is lunar, the Gregorian date shifts every year.

Diwali 2026

Diwali falls in October–November 2026 — the exact day depends on the Amavasya tithi and its timing at moonrise and sunset in your region. For the precise date and the Lakshmi Puja muhurta (the most auspicious window, typically during Pradosh kaal), check our live Festival Calendar 2026, which tracks tithis in IST.

The Five Days of Diwali

1. Dhanteras — buying gold, utensils
2. Naraka Chaturdashi (Choti Diwali) — victory of light
3. Lakshmi Puja (main Diwali) — diyas, prayers, family
4. Govardhan Puja — gratitude to nature
5. Bhai Dooj — bond of siblings

Why Muhurta Matters

The Lakshmi Puja is performed during the overlap of Pradosh kaal and fixed Lagna — a window of roughly an hour. Our festival calendar shows this window for your city.
